Accept product inquiries without charging online

Mark a simple or variable product as a preorder. The buyer will see a “Preorder” button, and classic checkout will allow an order to be placed without payment. The order moves to on-hold, after which a manager agrees availability and future payment with the buyer.

A clear rule for a mixed cart

If the cart contains at least one preorder product, the entire cart is checked out without an online payment. Regular carts retain their payment methods. Attempts to substitute the payment method in the request are checked on the server. A disabled license or gateway blocks checkout for marked products so they cannot proceed through normal online payment.

Product and stock support

A single flag on the parent variable product covers all its variations. WooCommerce controls prices, stock, taxes, shipping, and backorder permissions. Stock is reduced once when the order is on-hold. Standard cancellation restores it according to WooCommerce rules.

Request retries without double reservation

The gateway prevents simultaneous processing of the same order ID, rereads the order, and does not reduce stock when an already accepted on-hold operation is repeated. The flag is saved to the order item, so later product changes do not rewrite the history. Paid and canceled orders are not turned into new unpaid requests.

Even with a zero total

A 100% coupon does not skip the offline step or mark a preorder as paid. The manager receives the same on-hold status, and the buyer sees the order confirmation page.

Package

A standalone ZIP, a full GPL source code license, a user guide, activation and transfer instructions, and technical documentation. The store issues an individual key for one active installation in the private archive for each order.

Compatibility

Version 1.1.0 is designed for a classic shortcode [woocommerce_checkout]. Checkout Block and pre-orders through the Store API require a different integration and are blocked before payment processing. Deposits, delivery schedules, bank payments, external/grouped/subscription products, and individual variation flags are not included. The theme must use the standard WooCommerce button filters.

Tested on a clean installation

On a local WordPress 7.1 / PHP 8.2.30 / WooCommerce 11.1.0 setup, 58 functional checks passed with legacy order storage and 58 with HPOS, along with 27 browser checks and 14 personalized download checks. Testing covered mixed carts, variations, a 100% coupon, rejection without a license, custom labels, and mobile checkout. A separate test with 12 concurrent processes confirmed that stock was reduced only once.
